The Cink Peax was released by Wiko in 2013, a French small-to-medium-sized company
which is headquartered in Marseille. It is the first device from Wiko which is able to run the Android 4.1.1 “Jelly Bean” operating system.

This smartphone is known for several reasons. Firstly, for its low cost : it costs 140€, that is to say approximately 190$ for a phone without a subscription. Secondly, its design is similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S3. They have approximately the same dimensions. The Cink Peax is about 6.1 centimeter wide against 7 cm for the Galaxy S3. As for its length, the Wiko smartphone is 11.4 cm long against 13cm for the Galaxy S3. Therefore, the Cink Peax is smaller than the Galaxy S3 but Wiko’s phone is broader and lighter than the S3, as it weighs 9 grams less than the S3. The greatest similarity between them is their shape.

This device includes a mono-core processor, clocked at 800MHz, a 540 by 960 resolution screen which is fully tactile, smooth and very responsive both to writing and to scrolling. Moreover, there are three tactile buttons below the screen, the first to access the menu, the second to reach the home screen, the last one being used to return to the last page. Visible features include a 1.3 megapixel front camera and a 8 megapixel back camera, a power slash lock button, a volume rocker, a headphone jack and a USB port.

Thanks to its small size, it fits nicely in the hand. The power button to lock or unlock the phone is easy to reach even with one hand. Moreover, it feels very nice to the touch because of Wiko’s choice of materials. It adheres to the hand.

Because of its low price the device has a short battery life when compared to the other famous smartphones, such as the iPhone or the Galaxy. It has about 300mAh less compared to the other devices, which corresponds to one hour when you use up the phone’s battery. Moreover, storage is limited to 4 GB but that capacity can be extended with a 8, 16 or 32 GB memory card. Furthermore, the back-camera is protruding, thus making it rock from side to side when you put the back of the phone on a flat surface to write or surf the web.

In spite of its low-price, this smartphone is different from the others because it is possible to use two SIM cards at the same time, thus giving you access to two directories or two numbers, one for work and the other one for your friends.
